RICE’S MILLS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION – THETFORD CENTER, VT

The Rice’s Mills Community Association was established in 2004 to help recondition and preserving a 1931 school house. The building has a history in community center use for potluck dinners, educational forums, game nights, dance workshops and various educational classes.

Since becoming a project of the Aiken Council, the association has accomplished:

  • upgraded electrical wiring
  • repaired roofs
  • installed standing seam metal roofing
  • installed new sheetrock on ceilings
  • replaced outdated heating system with a new propane heater
  • blown in insulation
  • did pier and foundation work
  • inside and outside painting

Their most recent grant enabled Rice’s Mills building to bring water by way of a frost-free hydrant to the inside of the building.
